Planning a family trip to London? Finding the right accommodation can make or break your experience. During our recent family mini-break, we stayed at the Park Plaza Victoria, and I can confidently say it’s one of the best hotels we’ve ever stayed in — not just in London, but anywhere. Here’s an in-depth review of our experience, including why Room 802 (where we stayed) might just be the perfect choice for families.

Why Park Plaza Victoria is Perfect for Families
A Spacious and Luxurious Stay
Room 802 was absolutely stunning. It’s a family apartment that feels more like a luxurious home than a hotel room. With multiple bathrooms, a kitchenette, and even a huge veranda, there was ample space for all of us — a family of five. This room easily accommodates up to six people, making it ideal for larger families or those who simply want extra space to spread out.
Family-Friendly Features
The hotel goes above and beyond for families:
- Upon check-in, the children were thrilled to receive goody bags filled with activity packs, a fun “passport,” and drink vouchers to use at the bar.
- A fantastic family room with games to entertain the kids.
- TVs in each bedroom allowed the kids to relax with their favourite shows, and they could even stream from their devices.
- Thoughtful touches like luxurious robes, complimentary snacks, and beautifully scented toiletries made the stay feel special for everyone.
Unbeatable Location
Park Plaza Victoria is perfectly situated for exploring London. It’s a stone’s throw from:
- Iconic landmarks like Buckingham Palace, the London Eye, and Big Ben.
- Theatres housing Wicked and Hamilton, making it an ideal base for theatre lovers.
- Victoria Station, offering easy access to the Underground and Gatwick Express.
Having the Underground so close was a game-changer for us. While navigating public transport with children who have autism can be challenging, this location made it manageable and stress-free.
Outstanding Service
The staff at Park Plaza Victoria were exceptional. From the warm welcome at check-in to the attentive care throughout our stay, they went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. It reminded me of the level of service you’d expect from Disney cast members — thoughtful, friendly, and always willing to help.
Family Room
The family room on the first floor offers a pool table, table football, and a giant Connect Four, among other features, to help keep the kids entertained.
Fitness Suite
The hotel’s fitness suite, located on LG3, features modern exercise machines, a relaxing sauna, and a steam room, providing the perfect space to stay active or unwind after a day of exploring London.
A Closer Look at Room 802
We stayed in room 802 which is gorgeous! Here’s a walkthrough of its incredible features:
The Entrance Hall
The spacious entryway included coat hooks and plenty of room for shoes and luggage. It made a great first impression and helped us keep the space tidy.
The First Bathroom
This bathroom near the entrance featured a toilet and sink, which was perfect for quick use or for kids brushing their teeth while someone else was using the main bathroom.
The Hallway Cupboard
A large cupboard provided additional storage, complete with an ironing board and space for suitcases and coats. Keeping everything out of sight was a great way to maintain a clutter-free living space.
The Twin Bedroom
The kids loved their cosy twin room, which included comfortable beds, a TV, and a large wardrobe. The added bonus? A safe for valuables and plenty of room to store their things.
The Main Bathroom
This beautifully tiled bathroom was a dream for a family:
- A spacious vanity area made it easy to get ready in the mornings.
- A bath with a handheld shower and two overhead showers meant there were no arguments over who got to go first.
- Luxurious toiletries provided a touch of indulgence.
The toiletries had such an amazing scent that I ordered some to use at home as soon as we left the hotel.
The Master Bedroom
The master bedroom was a haven for us parents. The huge, comfortable double bed, ample wardrobe space, and luxurious robes made it the perfect retreat after a busy day exploring London.
The Lounge
This large, multi-functional space was a highlight of the apartment:
- The sofa bed provided additional sleeping space for our family.
- The desk area was perfect for catching up on emails or planning our next day’s adventures.
- The kids enjoyed movie nights with popcorn and snacks.
The Kitchen Area
The kitchenette was well-equipped with:
- A fridge, microwave, dishwasher, and utensils.
- Complimentary bottled water, which was a thoughtful touch.
- Plenty of space to prepare snacks or light meals during our stay.
The Dining Table
The small dining area was perfect for quick meals or snacks. Combined with the seating in the lounge, it was easy for the whole family to enjoy meals together.
The Veranda
The jewel in Room 802’s crown is the massive veranda. The views of London were breathtaking, with landmarks like the London Eye and Big Ben clearly visible. The kids had plenty of space to play safely, thanks to:
- Key-controlled access to the veranda.
- A double safety barrier that gave us peace of mind.
This space was a highlight of our stay, offering the perfect spot to unwind while soaking in the city’s beauty.
