How To Print In A5 For Your Mini Binder (Two Easy Options)

When you’re setting up an A5 mini binder, one of the first questions is how to actually print your pages. It’s one of those little details that can feel overwhelming if you’ve never done it before, but don’t worry — it’s really simple once you know your options.

Here are the two easiest ways to print your binder pages at home, step by step.

Option 1: Print Directly Onto A5 Paper

This is the most straightforward way, and it’s the method I use the most now.

  1. Choose your paper – A5 size (half of A4). I recommend a slightly thicker paper than standard printer paper, so your pages feel sturdier and don’t show ink through as much.
  2. Load your printer – pop the A5 paper into the tray. On most printers you’ll see adjustable sliders so the paper fits snugly.
  3. Update your printer settings – when you go to print, choose A5 from the paper size drop-down menu.
  4. Print actual size – make sure you tick “actual size” or “100%” so the pages don’t shrink or stretch.

And that’s it! Your planner pages will print straight onto A5, ready to punch and slot into your binder.

A Home Printer That Prints A5

I use the Epson EcoTank ET‑2876. It’s great for bulk printing and works beautifully with A5 pages. Most printers can do this, ask Chat GPT of your specific make and model has this option.

A5 Paper

You can buy it pre-cut, or cut down A4 paper. I now use A5 paper exclusively when printing these resources. Remember that thicker paper will give you a more premium feeling planning experience.

Hole Punch for A5

This is essential for punching your paper. I find it works out much cheaper to buy plan paper and hole punch it myself than to buy pre punched paper.

Option 2: Print Two Pages Per Sheet on A4 Paper

If you don’t have A5 paper handy, or if your printer struggles with smaller paper, you can absolutely use A4.

  1. Use standard A4 paper – again, I’d suggest going for a slightly thicker weight for planner pages.
  2. Choose your print layout – in your print settings, select “2 per sheet” (sometimes called “2-up” or “two pages per side”). This will print two A5 pages onto one A4 sheet.
  3. Guillotine or cut in half – once printed, just cut the A4 sheet neatly down the middle to make two A5 pages. A guillotine makes this quick and precise, but scissors will do if that’s what you have.
  4. Punch and add – hole punch your cut pages and pop them into your binder.

Which Option Should You Use?

Both methods work perfectly.

  • Option 1 is the easiest — if you’ve got A5 paper, just load, print, and you’re done.
  • Option 2 is ideal if you already have A4 paper at home and don’t want to buy a new pack, or if your printer doesn’t play nicely with smaller paper sizes.

Personally, I started with Option 2, and when I realised how much easier it was to print straight to A5, I switched.

Next Step: Build Your Mini Binder

Once your pages are printed, the fun really begins — choosing your binder, adding dividers, and filling it with the printables that make life run smoothly.

Create Your Own Mini Organised Life Binder (My Secret Weapon)

I have tried every planner and organisation system under the sun, and nothing ever really worked for me — until I created my own Organised Life Binder System. It has genuinely changed my life as a busy, ADHD mum of four.

With the binder, I can keep everything in one place — family schedules, meal plans, routines, to-dos, goals, and all those little life admin tasks that usually get lost in the chaos. It’s flexible, printable, and completely customisable, so it works whether you want to focus on daily planning, decluttering, kids’ routines, budgeting, or all of the above.

And here’s the best bit — I’ve recently started using the Mini Binder version, and I’m obsessed! It’s all the organisation power of the full binder, but in a portable A5 size that actually fits in my bag. I use it for my own planning, but also for my kids’ systems — school routines, homework checklists, weekend resets — you name it.

No matter which size you choose, the Organised Life Binder System gives you:
✔ Printable pages you can reprint and refresh whenever you need
✔ The freedom to customise sections for your family’s needs
✔ Flexibility — add, remove, or move pages as life changes
✔ A calm, clear system to get the chaos out of your head and onto paper
