Whether you are a super Pinterest-y crafty Mum or not (and I fall firmly into that second category), getting out a few basic craft essentials and letting your kids’ imaginations and creativity run wild is a great way to keep them busy.
I love our pen caddy for both creative activities and homework. I like to keep our caddy stocked with pens, scissors, pencils and glue sticks, plus have a good supply of paper to hand, my children are kept busy drawing cutting and sticking for ages.

Making Cards
A slightly more structured craft activity can be making cards. Make a list of upcoming birthdays of friends and family members and your children can spend time making them personalised cards.
Blank Cards & Envelopes
These blank cards Dan matching envelopes make card making easy and the finished product neat and tidy.
Scrapbooking
Another lovely creative activity is making scrapbooks. These can be general life scrapbooks, memories of a trip or other special event, or even collections of baby pictures. In a world where most of our photography is digital, this lovely activity (that can be as artistic or basic as you like) is a great excuse to actually get some photos printed.

Play Doh
It’s an oldie but a goodie, but Play-Doh is as good as keeping kids entertained now as it has always been.
Building
Building as a brilliant activity that can unleash your. child’s creativity in a less “sticky messy” kind of way.
Although my children are technically “too old” for Duplo, it keeps them happy and entertained for ages, perhaps longer than the more “age appropriate” tiny LEGO bricks would. We have quite a collection of Duplo amassed over the years, along with lots of characters. Mic children play with it in a different way than they would have done when they were younger, now favouring building buildings for their characters to live and play in.
Board Games
Board games are a brilliant way to keep kids busy, teach turn taking and get everyone involved. Games like Peppa Pig Monopoly are great for multiple age groups playing together.
Baking
Baking is a fun (and tasty) activity to do with kids.
Check out my super easy cake recipe that turns out great every time. Alternatively, if you want to do the decorating bit without actually baking, use some icing sugar and writing icing to get your children to decorate shop bought plain biscuits.
Picnic
Food is just more fun when it’s a picnic, right? So grab your picnic blanket and feed your kids outside, either on a day out or in the garden. Too wet to go out? Indoor picnics can be just as much fun.

Yoga
Yoga is a brilliant way to get kids to exercise and practice mindfulness. We love the Cosmic Kids Yoga channel on YouTube for our kids Yoga practice.

I’ve had a number of yoga mats over the years and this on is the best I have found by far.

An alternative to a sports day can be an obstacle course, either indoors or outdoors.

Setting up a play shop is not only a great role play game, but is a good learning opportunity to practice addition, subtraction and using money.
