Drinks
Snacks
Whether you plan to purchase your meals in the theme park or not, you will save a fortune by packing some snacks. Think about packing some healthier bits (you are less likely to be able to buy healthy snacks in most theme parks). Pick snacks that are not too sticky or messy too.
I love these Sistema click-able snack pots for days out and lunch boxes too.
Packaway Waterproofs

Even if the Great British weather stays dry through your trip (which it may not), there are plenty of places to get wet in a theme park. From log flumes to raft races, you will be glad that you packed a waterproof jacket.
Change Of Clothes
Depending upon the ride, you may end up with soggy clothes even with a waterproof jacket. Consider packing some spare clothes including spare socks in case you get especially drenched. You could always leave them in the car and nip back to get them if you get super soaked.
Sealable Waterproof Bag
Pack some waterproof pouches to protect your valuables on those wet rides. These waterproof pouches will also keep your phone safe if you get stuck in a downpour of rain.
Hand Sanitiser
Even in a pre-COVID world, it was always sensible to take hand sanitiser to theme parks and other public places. It’s now gone from “a sensible thing to do” to absolutely essential in order to keep you and your family safe.
Disinfectant Spray
I like to take a small bottle of disinfectant spray with me to not just theme parks, but any time we eat out. I have always used my disinfectant spray for wiping down highchairs before using them. I now use it to wipe tables and other surfaces that my family come into contact with while out and about.
I like to use some diluted Zoflora (ensure that you follow the directions on the bottle) decanted into a spray bottle. Don’t forget to label your spray bottles so that you know what is in them. I recently invested in a label maker and I love it!
Sun Screen
In the summer months sunscreen is essential. I tend to like to use an all day option for my family that is water resistant as it can be applied in the morning and will last most of the day.
Even on days that it doesn’t appear to be especially warm, it’s a good idea to have sun screen with you in your car emergency kit. That way you can run back to get it if the sun makes an unexpected appearance.
Kids Bag

My kids always carry a small bag each for their own things when we go out and about. When they were small, they always had bags that doubled up as reins to keep them safe if they slipped out of my hand in a busy area.
Buggy Board
If you have a toddler, a ride on board can be a life saver when it comes to theme park trips. I have used ride on boards for my little ones from the age where they can walk as it’s an ideal way to keep them safely between your arms while allowing them to feel “big”.
My older children have even taken short rides on the ride on boards up to around age 7 when they are really tired after a lot of walking.
Although ride on boards are traditionally used for older siblings while babies are in the pram, I would recommend getting one even if you have just the one child. That way you can use the buggy to carry your things and your toddler can ride the board until they are so tired that they need to sit or sleep in the pushchair.
Bike Lock
In order to get on rides in theme parks, you will have to leave your pushchair. Although thefts of pushchairs in theme parks is apparently pretty low, I’ve always taken a bike lock to secure ours to a railing while we left it unattended.
Comfortable Shoes
Days out in theme parks mean lots of walking, so make sure that you pack comfortable shoes. Keep in mind the types of rides that you might be going on. If there are wet rides, it’s probably worth packing flip flops to pop on to avoid squelchy shoes for the rest of the day.
If you are wearing slip on shoes, you may be asked to remove them all together if you are going on rides or rollercoasters where your legs dangle.
Medical Kit
I like to keep a small emergency medical kit with us on days out including;
- Plasters – ideal for blisters from walking so much
- Adult pain killers
- Sachets or paracetamol & ibuprofen for kids
- Teething powder for babies
- Bubbles (to instantly cheer up an injured child)
App For Venue
Check before you go if the theme park has an app that you can download. Make sure that you download this before you go in case the signal is weak when you are there.
Wipes
I used Cheeky Wipes for my babies when they were small and I still love them for hands and faces now that my kids are older. Whether you go for reusable or disposable, wipes are great for quick clean ups.
Battery Charger Pack
When phone goes flat from taking hundreds of photos of your amazing day, you’ll be glad that you packed a charger pack.
Change Purse
Some venues use tokens for their rides and attractions, so a small change purse can be really handy for keeping these together.
Carabiners

Carabiners are great for keeping your stuff together on days out. If you have a pram or stroller with you, they can be used for attaching bags or coats to it. They can also be used for attaching coats and things to any backpacks when you are not wearing them.
If the venue you are visiting uses tokens, you can attach your change purse to your bag or pram for easy access.
Face Masks
Many venues require that you wear face masks in shops, rides or public spaces now. Check before you travel and make sure that you packed your masks.
