Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique On A Disney Cruise: Is It Worth It?

One of the most sought-after bookings for children on a Disney cruise has to be the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique – the ultimate royal makeover experience for children aged 3–12. We’ve done Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique twice now, once on the Disney Wish and once on the Disney Dream. But is it really worth the price? And what do you need to know before booking?

If you’re sailing on the Disney Fantasy in 2025 or the Dream when it returns in 2026, this guide is for you. I’m sharing all the details on what’s included, the different packages available, how to book, and my honest thoughts on the experience.

What Is the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique?

Every Disney Cruise Line ship has a version of the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique onboard, offering magical makeovers for young guests. Whether it’s a sparkly princess look, a bold pirate transformation, or even something unique like Captain Minnie, there’s something to delight most children.

There are slight variations from ship to ship. For example, the boutique on the Dream is tucked away on Deck 5 near the atrium, while the Wish has its boutique more front-and-centre with beautiful visibility and presentation – definitely more “wow” factor when it comes to photos.

How & When to Book

The Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is classed as a bookable extra, and when you can access those depends on your Castaway Club status (Disney Cruise Line’s loyalty programme). The higher your status, the earlier you can log in and make those bookings.

For UK cruisers, your booking window opens at 5am UK time (midnight Florida time). If the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is top of your wishlist, I recommend setting that alarm and logging in right away – these appointments do fill up fast.

If you miss out, don’t panic. You can speak to Guest Services when you board and ask to be added to the waitlist. And remember – missing out on extras doesn’t mean your cruise won’t be magical. The ship is packed with included activities and experiences.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by all the moving parts of cruise planning, you’re not alone! That’s exactly why I created my Magical Cruise Planners. They guide you through everything – from choosing your ship and itinerary, to booking your extras (like the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique), packing, and planning magical moments each day.

There’s even a kids’ version, filled with fun activities, places to record memories, and spots for autographs. Perfect for keeping little ones busy while travelling or waiting to meet characters.

Our Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique Experiences

We’ve experienced the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique both on the Disney Wish and the Dream – and while the core experience is similar, the setting on the Wish really stood out. From the boutique’s location to the photo lighting and displays, it felt like a more upscale environment.

The Deluxe Carriage Package (the package my girls chose on the Disney Wish)

This was the package we chose on our first visit. It included:

  • Hairstyling
  • Shimmering makeup and face gem
  • Nail polish
  • A princess sash and themed drawstring bag
  • Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique cruise-exclusive T-shirt

We opted to bring our own dresses – the girls had plenty of princess gowns already. The T-shirts are exclusive to the cruise line and a lovely keepsake. The team were totally fine with the girls wearing their own outfits and changing in the boutique’s changing rooms.

There’s a similar package for those preferring a non-princess theme – the Royal Knight package – which includes hairstyling with gel, confetti, a knight costume, sword, shield and themed bag.

Captain Minnie Package (the package my girls chose on the Disney Dream)

For our second go, the girls chose the Captain Minnie package (also exclusive to Disney Cruise Line). This included:

  • Hairstyling
  • Makeup and face gem
  • Nail polish
  • Necklace, ring, sash, and themed drawstring bag
  • An autograph book and pen (although ours swapped this for wands)
  • Captain Minnie costume and Minnie ears headband

This one was particularly magical because the Captain Minnie outfits can’t be bought anywhere else. Zara even swapped her wand to get the Cinderella one instead of Belle’s – the Fairy Godmothers in Training were so accommodating.

Package Options & Prices

Pricing may vary slightly by ship or sailing, but here’s a rough guide based on our trips:

  • Deluxe Carriage or Royal Knight Package – $99.95
  • Castle Package (with princess dress) – $199.95
  • Captain Minnie Package – $149.95
  • Captain Mickey Package – $149.95
  • Pirate Night Makeovers – Available on cruises with a Pirate Night

You don’t choose your package when booking online – your child picks from the available options on the day of their appointment.

And yes, even though Disney don’t share the full package details online, this is likely to avoid disappointment if certain items are unavailable on specific sailings. Stock does vary.

What to Expect In The Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique

Each child is paired with a Fairy Godmother in Training who will walk them through hairstyle and makeover options. My girls picked the “pixie magic” hair extension on the Wish and the Enchanted hairstyle on the Dream – complete with buns, bows and sparkly Mickey hair clips.

They were treated like royalty. The stylists were gentle, kind, and made everything feel magical. They even said things like “If it hurts, just say Bibbidi Bobbidi Ouch!” (They didn’t need to say it once – which is more than I can say for when I do their hair at home!)

Children receive individual makeup palettes and hair tools, ensuring everything is fresh and hygienic. The final pixie dust sprinkle is such a special moment, and the transformation is finished off with time for photos.

The Wish does have an edge when it comes to photos – better lighting and a dedicated photo spot – but both ships offer a beautiful experience.

Tips for Booking Your Appointment

  • Try to book early in the day so your child can enjoy their makeover longer.
  • If possible, aim to coordinate with your Royal Gathering (princess meet and greet), which is usually held on a sea day and is bookable 30 days before your cruise.
  • You don’t need to book a makeover for every child on every cruise. One magical appointment may be enough.
  • You can save money by taking your own dress and choosing one of the more affordable packages like the T-shirt option.

Is It Worth It?

If you ask my girls what the highlight of their cruise was – including both the Disney Wish and a full week in Walt Disney World – they will say Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique without hesitation.

So yes, in my experience, it was absolutely worth it. It doesn’t need to be something you do on every cruise, and it’s definitely not essential for enjoying the ship – but as a magical treat? It was unforgettable.

Final Thoughts

The Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique was one of the highlights of our Disney Cruise experience, and something my children will never forget. Whether you go all out with the deluxe packages or keep things simple by bringing your own dress, the magic is real either way.

Have you done the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique on a cruise? I’d love to hear what package you went for and whether your child enjoyed it.
