Table Of Contents
1. Dusting
Dusting is a job that needs to be done once a week. As with most of the jobs on the list, you can choose to do all of this in one go or to break it up room by room dusting a little each day. Whichever way you work it, aim to give each surface in your house a dust weekly.

I like to use these reusable fluffy dusters with washable heads. They pick up dust without the use of chemicals and are washable, so are both environmentally friendly and kind to your purse too. As I discussed in my Get Your Family To Help Around The House post, my kids love “helping” me clean with these dusters as they are colourful and fun. The fact that they are chemical-free means that this is a safe way for my little ones to join in.

2. Vacuuming

Vacuuming is one of the jobs that I listed in my Chores To Do Every Day post, but it belongs in your weekly chore list too, here’s why.
Some areas in your home will need vacuuming daily. If you have kids, areas like underneath the table where they eat will probably need vacuuming after very meal.
Not all areas of your home, however, will need vacuuming every day and adding them to your weekly list will suffice. Lower traffic areas such as bedrooms will be fine weekly, just make sure that your high traffic areas such as entrance halls and the kitchen are vacuumed more frequently.
I love my cordless vacuum for both the daily and weekly cleans. As with lots of other jobs, I tend to vacuum daily during my power hour cleans, alternating rooms to ensure that every room is vacuumed at least once a week.
3. Mop Floors

My tool of choice for mopping both my tile and laminate floors is my Vileda 1-2 Spray.
To Fill My Mop
I like to fill my mop with either diluted Zoflora or Method Wild Rhubarb Antibacterial Floor Cleaner. Both leave my home smelling amazing!
4. Change Bed Sheets

Make sure that you change all of the beds in your home that are slept in every week. If you have a guest room that is largely unused, you won’t need to change these weekly. Consider changing different beds on different days to avoid an enormous amount of laundry on one day.
5. Bathroom

Although bathrooms need a quick wipe over daily, make sure that you give your a good deep clean every week.
6. Stock Taking & Rotation

Once a week before you grocery shop, take some time to go through your kitchen cupboards and see what you have in stock. Throw away anything that is out of date and add items that need to be used up to your meal plan.
7. Fridge Cleaning

Once you have done your weekly stock take, your next job before doing your weekly grocery shop is to give your fridge a good clean.
8. Grocery Shopping

Weekly grocery shopping should only be done after your weekly stock take, meal plan and clean out.
9. Sort Rubbish & Recycling

Ensure that household waster and recycling is taken out for your weekly kerb side collection. It is worth putting a weekly reminder on your phone to ensure that you don’;t miss your allocated slot.
