You Will Need
A bar of mild soap
A basic bar of mild hand soap is all you need. You can use any brand, but I like Dove.
A soap dish with a lid
This is optional, but it will make your life easier as you can store your soap between brush cleaning.
A brush cleaning pallette
Again, this is optional, but it will make the whole process quicker and simpler.
If you’re a Mum like me, you’ll have loads of muslin cloths around the place from the baby phase. If not, a tea towel would do the trick.
By the way, if you’re looking for more uses for those muslin cloths, check out my 15 Ways To Use A Muslin post.
How to clean your brushes
- Wet the soap & brush, keeping the brush pointing down to protect the glue in the bristles
- Swirl the brush around on the damp soap as shown in the video above
- Circle the brush on the cleansing palette to work out the makeup and dirt.
- Rinse the brush under the water, keeping the bristles pointing down.
Repeat the steps above until the water runs clear. Squeeze out excess water using the cloth, the lay your brushes flat to dry.
Using this method to clean your brushes is quick and simple and will make your make up application much smoother. Added bonus; cleaning your brushes will stop you from working old dirt into your pores and can prevent break outs of spots.
