Room Service on a Disney Cruise
Room service is available 24 hours a day throughout your cruise, except for the final night when it ends at 1:30 a.m. Most items on the room service menu are included in the cost of your cruise, but some optional extras come with an upcharge.
Room service breakfast works a little differently from the rest of the menu. In your stateroom, you will find room service order slips inside the dresser drawer. To place your order, simply fill out the slip with the items you want, the quantities, and the time you’d like it delivered. Hang it on your stateroom door handle before 3 a.m. for breakfast delivery the next morning. Breakfast slots run from 5 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
Outside of these breakfast hours, you can order from the room service menu by calling guest services using the phone in your stateroom. The menu can be found on the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app, which becomes essential as soon as you board. While the app is quite limited before embarkation, once on board, it provides full access to activities, dining allocations, timetables, and menus.
Room service is a lovely way to enjoy a meal in your stateroom, whether relaxing after a swim or winding down before bed. If you have a veranda stateroom, it is even more of a treat to sit outside and enjoy your meal with an ocean view.
One of the best things about Disney Cruise room service is the hidden menu items. For example, Mickey bars are not listed on the menu, but you can absolutely request them when calling guest services. Other room service favourites include pizza and even a surprisingly delicious meat-free chicken burger.
Tipping is expected for room service. You can either tip in cash using US dollars (the currency used on board) or sign the slip to charge the tip to your stateroom account.
Quick Service Dining and Cabanas Buffet
Cabanas is the main quick service restaurant available on all four of the original Disney Cruise Line ships: the Magic, the Wonder, the Dream, and the Fantasy. Located on Deck 11, Cabanas offers a buffet-style dining experience with a huge variety of food options.
Cabanas serves breakfast with a much wider selection than room service. After breakfast service, Cabanas closes briefly before reopening for lunch, where you will find an extensive selection of cuisines. While Cabanas sometimes offers dinner service, rotational dining is such a great experience that it is worth making the most of your assigned dining rotation.
A great tip for families is to pop up to Cabanas early in the morning and grab breakfast items to bring back to the stateroom for those who are slow to wake up. Mickey waffles are always a must, along with pound cake and other fan favourites.
Cabanas has both indoor and outdoor seating. If you find the buffet too busy, you can always take your plate back to your stateroom. A good strategy for navigating the buffet is to keep walking around—many food stations are repeated throughout the venue, so you may find a shorter queue just around the corner.
Deck Food Options: Flo’s Café and Ice Cream Treats
On both the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, the main deck food area is called Flo’s Café, featuring a fun Cars theme. This area offers several quick and easy dining options, including:
- Luigi’s Pizza for fresh, delicious pizza
- Tow Mater’s Grill for burgers, hot dogs, and the famous Disney Cruise Line chicken tenders
- Fillmore’s Favourites for healthier options like wraps and salads, along with a fresh salad bar
Further down the deck, you will find Ice Cream Treats, a self-serve soft-serve ice cream station inspired by Monsters, Inc. The ice cream flavours change daily, so it is worth trying different ones throughout your cruise. A great tip is to grab some cookies from Cabanas and make an ice cream sandwich using the soft serve.
Dole Whip on Disney Cruise Line
If you love Dole Whip, you will be happy to know that you can enjoy this iconic Disney treat while sailing. On both the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, Dole Whips are available at Frozone Treats, located near the pool on Deck 11.
You can order the classic pineapple-flavoured Dole Whip on its own or with a splash of rum. A word of caution—ordering a double shot of rum makes it extremely strong, so it may be best enjoyed as it comes.
Both the regular and rum-spiked versions of Dole Whip are available at an additional charge.
Speciality Sweet Treat Shops
While many of the dining options are the same on both the Disney Dream and the Disney Fantasy, the speciality sweet treat shops differ.
On the Disney Dream, Vanellope’s Sweets and Treats is inspired by Wreck-It Ralph and offers hand-scooped gelato, ice cream, cupcakes, cookies, and other treats, all available at an extra charge. The Vanellope’s Race Car Sundae, which comes in a souvenir race car, is a fun and manageable option for families.
On the Disney Fantasy, Sweet On You is the speciality dessert shop, styled as a vintage ice cream parlour with Mickey and Minnie theming. Here you will find handcrafted gelatos, sundaes, milkshakes, cupcakes, and macarons, with a Mickey and Minnie souvenir bowl available as a keepsake. Like Vanellope’s, all items at Sweet On You are available at an extra cost.
